Positivity

Dear Readers,

I’ve written about my struggles, thoughts, mild depression, trying to stay positive etc.  Today, staying positive proved to be this week’s miracle for me.  After a few months of seeing a handful of different doctors and going through a handful of different tests and what not, I found out that I do not have what they thought I had!

For those who don’t know, the doctors I saw (and there were a few) thought I had what was called a volvulus (if you’re curious to know what a volvulus is, read about it here). If it wasn’t that, it was possible that it could also be a tumor.  Not great news for a 28 year old guy.  Needless to say, I became a little depressed and severely stressed.  Not severely depressed but enough to keep me grumpy for months.

Today however, I met with my doctor who told me all the scans came back cleaned, I don’t have a volvulus or tumor. I do have something else but it is extremely minor and can be managed with just proper diet and exercise.

On that note as well, I can start exercising again!  I was afraid to do so prior to this meetings as the issue is in my core area and the thought of doing sit-ups stressed me out even more.  So, in short, I have a clean bill of health with a baby due in less than a month now.

This whole ordeal has reminded me of one of my absolute favorite quotes from Mahatma Gandhi.

“Keep your thoughts positive because your thoughts become your words. Keep your words positive because your words become your behavior. Keep your behavior positive because your behavior becomes your habits. Keep your habits positive because your habits become your values. Keep your values positive because your values become your destiny.”

A positive outlook on life should be something that everyone in the world strives for. It doesn’t matter what religion you follow, as long as you are happy.

Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.
