On July 13th, 2024, our family hiked the Juan De Fuca Marine Trail to Mystic Beach, a 2km journey each way. The highlights included crossing a suspension bridge and reaching Mystic Beach, where we enjoyed the scenery and a waterfall. The hike provided a perfect mix of adventure, nature, and family bonding.
Last weekend, I hiked the 10KM loop around Elk Lake in Victoria, BC, enjoying sunny weather and beautiful scenery. Although the trail was busy with people, a rowing competition, and a local fair, it provided excellent training. I’d rate it 7/10 due to the crowds but recommend it for its stunning views and local activities.
There are countless lists out there for the same thing, but this is my personal curated list which I update as I go along and learn. Note that this list is for both camping and backpacking, and not all items are necessarily needed for either activity. Feel free to use this list as you see fit.
