A Tribute to Tolkien

Published by Rob Meush on

The world can be a heavy place,
With hearts that chase what will not stay.
But those who walk with gentle grace
Find light along the shadowed way.

The proud may build their fleeting thrones,
And measure worth in gleam and gold.
Yet joy is found in broken stones,
And warmth in stories softly told.

A meal to share, a hand to hold,
A song to lift the weary day.
These gifts are worth far more than gold,
Though time may take them all away.

For kindness sows what riches can’t,
And laughter heals what pain has scarred.
Life’s not meant to grant each want,
But teach the soul to tend it’s yard.

So when the road grows rough and long,
And storms erase the best you’ve planned,
Remember peace is not beyond,
It waits beside you where you stand.

And may we learn, as wise hearts once told,
“If more valued food and cheer and song
Above the hoard of shining gold,
The world would be a more merry place.”
